what WE need YOU to do for us

We need you to fill the role of Director of Emergency Care Shelter (ACS). This is a full time (40 hours/week), exempt position. You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise, train, and lead Youth Care Workers and Program Managers, and ensure accountability among all program staff.
  • Build an effective team and implement programing to address the needs of youth within the Emergency Shelter.
  • Exhibit exceptional decision quality and interpersonal skill along with the ability to manage ambiguity and value differences.
  • Ability to assess, intervene and report when critical issues or risk management situations arise.
  • Supervise resident-focused case management duties.
  • Review and monitor all required shelter documentation daily, including shift reports, daily log notes, and medication administration records.
  • Other duties as may be assigned (including but not limited to: presenting trainings, community collaboration, taskforces, budget planning, etc.)

to be successful in this role, WE’LL need YOU to

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in the Social Service Field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience AND with residential child care experience serving a broad range of ages from infants to teenagers, with experience with teens preferred.
  • Have strong crisis-intervention and stress management skills.
  • Able to function independently, exercising sound judgement and an ability to shift priorities rapidly
  • Thorough understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and the dynamics of abuse and neglect; history of work with youth  ages 8-18 preferred.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well as submit to a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
  • Adhere to our Guiding Principles, Mission, Core Competencies and Confidentiality Policy.

how WE’LL make it worth YOUR while

  • We will pay you an annual salary of $48,000.
  • We’ll pay for your medical, life and short-term disability insurance.
  • We will give you 15 accrued paid time off days in the first year, and 22 days in the second year, capping out at 30 days after year seven.
  • We’ll pay you for our six agency holidays and four additional personal holidays to be used at your discretion.
  • We’ll contribute 2% to your 403(b) retirement, and we’ll kick in an additional 1% if you agree to match it.
  • We understand that you have commitments outside of the workplace, and we’ll do our very best to offer you some flexibility in your work schedule.
  • We’ll offer you discounted day care for your kiddos at one of our two onsite day care centers, as enrollment allows.
